This journey is a many of firsts for me . I’ve started my own website and now my very first blog. Along with this, I myself have put off getting back into shape and becoming healthier in my life. The start of a new lifestyle . So that’s what my blog will be about.
Making the decision to get healthy, eat right and lose weight is a big deal all in itself — so, well done- For everyone that’s even thinking about it!! Your taking a big huge step In the right direction. To live a healthiier lifestyle isn’t going to be easy. Many of us already know that to lose weight we must (A) Exercise (B) Eat a healthy diet. (C) Sleep right -at least 8 hrs. (D) Have a positive mindset. (E) Have your family -friends support you. Everyday all day. There are others, but, I feel these 5 points are key to everyones success. Including mine. Of course these aren’t in any particular order . Also many of us know this, but do not move forward on it . We give up and quit at the first opportunity. We look for any excuse to bail because we know the long hard road ahead awaits us. This is why we need the support of our friends and family. The day we decide to take our first step we need to let them know what we are doing. And have them hold us accountable when they see us taking the fork in the road. What I mean by holding us accountable, I don’t mean for them to chastise us. I mean for them to just pull us aside and remind us of our goal and what we are trying to accomplish. This will help keep us on track. I say us because we are going to do this together. You and I and everyone else that wants to take this journey for a healthiier lifestyle together. Because together we can do it ! You and I are not alone.
I plan to officially start my journey for a healthier lifestyle starting January 1st 2019. This is because circumstances Beyond My Control in my personal life. But I am taking steps towards starting on the 1st with no excuses! My house should be in order by then. Next week I have an appointment with my doctor. I’m in the 50 club so I have to make sure I do this the right way. Once I’m cleared I will look for a gym near my home where I will feel comfortable working out. I also have an upcoming appointment with a dietician. This way I can set up my meal plans. Knowing that I won’t have to worry if what I’m eating is healthy or not. Remember Losing weight might be a result, but it shouldn’t be the main goal. This will make the journey all the more easier to accomplish.
The holidays are here, Thanksgiving and Christmas. This is when many people that have started their Journey -fall off at the slightest excuse. They say ooooh that pie looks delicious ! I want to have a piece. Or those cookies look scrumptious . I will only have one. Then one becomes a few. Then it just snowballs down from there. During these times do try to eat only when you are really hungry and stop as soon as you start to feel full. This will put you on the right path to your ideal weight. Don’t eat because your eyes tell you so – eat because you’re hungry . Not because something looks good or smells good. And when you do eat, have a glass of water before eating. Sometimes this will curve your appetite. Also when you do eat, slow down, enjoy your food and stop before you get overly full. This will help you successfully pass through the holidays and keep you on your journey.
During the holidays and everyday forward. I will try to eat a healthy and nutritious breakfast. I will focus on eating non-starchy vegetables. I will stop drinking liquid calories I will limit my alcohol intake. I will make the time to exercise daily. Whether it’s walking around the block or marching in place. I will get it done. I will drink lots of water because that is also important. Not only to stay hydrated but to help curb my appetite. I will also do my best to ensure I get my 8 hours of sleep every night. And I will focus on only eating when I’m hungry and stop when I get comfortably full. I will eat fruits during the day to help speed up my metabolism and keep me from eating junk food. Buy accomplishing this, it will get me ready for the official start date of my journey on the 1st of January.
Along with having a workout schedule and having a meal plan one should write down the reasons why they are starting this journey and why its so important for them to accomplish this journey. Is it.. to spend more time with your children or grandchildren. Is it…. because you’re trying to fit into your favorite dress or jeans. Whatever the case, everyone must have realistic goals and expectations. Remember that slow and steady wins the race. Something you can write down is once you get to your ideal goal, what do you plan to do.. Where do you plan to go. What do you plan to wear. And just remind yourself of this whenever you feel you need some motivation. Also let a family member know or a friend that you need a slight push in the right direction whenever you feel down or wanting to give up for the day. But remember to give yourself a reward every now and then but only when you reach a milestone in your goals.
There are so many instances, we are waiting for the perfect time, moment, and situation to get back into our journey. If you feel unmotivated, and/or don’t where to start, just do something…anything. Like take the dog out for a walk around the block. If you don’t have a dog walk yourself around the block . Sometimes it takes just doing one thing to start the snowball effect. At the end of the day nobody is going to do the work for you. At the end of the day you need to push yourself even if every part of you wants to stay on the couch. At the end of the day if you don’t like what you see when you look in the mirror you have to change that. Who else is going to change that . No one will. It starts with you! You have to change it. It seems hard at first but after a few days it will get easier and after a few weeks it will be habit. And then before you know it a life changing lifestyle.
In the end you have to Talk to Yourself Like You Would a Friend. Give yourself the same advice you would give to a friend who was in your position. If you want to live the healthy lifestyle if you want to lose some weight the time is now. There is no time like the present. You have the power with every moment, every choice, to do something good for your health. Don’t let another opportunity slip through your fingers.
